About a week ago we were informed that exciting Filipino Jerwin Ancajas (21-1-1, 13) was set to be added to the November 22nd card in Macau. At the time no opponent was named for the "Pretty Boy" of Filipino boxing but we'll admit we were quietly excited about the announcement given that we do enjoy watching the talented Ancajas.
Earlier today Ancajas was confirmed for the show with his opponent being announced as Tanzania's tough Fadhili Majiha (15-5-4, 7), a man who has recently battled against former WBO Bantamweight world champion Pungluang Sor Singyu in Thailand.
Aged 21 Majiha is a fighter with a surprising amount of experience and has shared the ring with some notable names, not just Pungluang. His first loss came in 2009 as he was stopped by multi-time world title challenger Vusi Malinga. More recently he has lost to both Pungluang and Marlon Tapales though proven to be very game in both of those losses getting up from a knockdown in round 6 against Tapales and running Pungluang very close.
For Ancajas this will be his second bout in Macau following a sensational 2nd round KO against Inthanon Sithchamuang back in February and he'll know another impressive showing here could help him move towards a world title fight in 2015. Not only is is a really interesting bout for the young Filipino but it's also on a major card headlined by the WBO Welterweight title bout between Filipino boxing great Manny Pacquiao and the unbeaten Chris Algieri.
Although Ancajas will rightfully be the favourite he'll almost certainly expect a tough test given that Majiha has proven his toughness and hasn't been stopped since the Malinga bout, back when the Tanzania fighter was just 16 years old!
