We now know that Otake's opponent will be OPBF #5 ranked Filipino fighter Jelbirt Gomera (12-1, 6), who is a Filipino champion at both 122lbs and 126lbs.
Although relatively unknown outside of the Philippines Gomera does hold some interesting results, including a split decision win over the under-rated Ryan Rey Ponteras and a 6th round TKO loss to Mark Anthony Geraldo. Given his results it's hard to see how Gomera is ranked #5 by the OPBF but he does have a decent record and will be hungry to win here, a win for him would put him on the proverbial map and see him claim the biggest win of his career.
For Otake the bout will be his first OPBF title fight, though he is a former Japanese champion and a former world title challenger, having come up very short against Scott Quigg back in 2014. Since the Otake has gone 5-0 (3) but hasn't looked good in recent bouts against Hernan Cortez or Alexander Espinoza. Given those poor performances in recent times from Otake Gomera may well fancy his chances here.
The bout will be the main event of the Kaneko Boxing show.
