Around a month ago we reported that former Japanese and OPBF Bantamweight champion Ryosuke Iwasa (21-2, 13) [岩佐 亮佑] was set to return to the ring on July 12th as he continued to move towards a second world title fight.
Today we can confirm that not only is he fighting on that date, but he will be up against a world ranked opponent with "Eagle Eye" now set to face Thailand's Patomsith Pathompothong (15-5, 5) [ปฐมสิทธิ์ เกษตรพัฒนา], who returns to Japan for the first time since losing to Hisashi Amagasa last year.
The Thai is currently ranked by the IBF at Featherweight and will be coming down in weight to meet Iwasa at Super Bantamweight for the bout. That's a move that will likely help Iwasa look back to his best whilst also not posing a problem for Patomsith who has often weighed in at 122lbs.
The bout, scheduled for 10 rounds will headline the card, currently dubbed "Eagle Eye Fly to the World", at the Korakuen Hall.
