The bout has been ordered the IBF who have been informed that Japanese fan favourite Akira Yaegashi (23-5, 12) [八重樫 東] would not be able to defend his title against Melindo in the foreseeable future, due to an injury.
Originally the IBF had ordered Yaegashi Vs Melindo with the two camps being given a window to negotiate, but it appears that Yaegashi has been unable to commit to a date whilst an injury continues to effect him. As a result the IBF haven't punished Melindo by making him continue to wake, nor have they punished Yaegashi for being injured. Instead Yaegashi will have to face the winner of the Sakkreerin Vs Melindo bout.
At the moment there isn't a date or venue set for the bout with both camps expected to try and get their fighter home advantage, with both camps expected to try and get the bout held during November.
Whenever the bout is held we're gonna be excited as we think it's a great match up between two of the division's top contenders.
For Melindo the shot is set to be his third world title shot, following losses to Juan Francisco Estrada and Javier Mendoza, with whom he had been trying to secure a rematch. Unlike the two bouts with the Mexican's however Melindo would likely be the favourite here against the Thai. For Fahlan the bout will be his second world title bout following a very controversial loss to Japan's Katsunari Takayama in a bout for the IBF Minimumweight title last year, since that loss he has run up 4 wins and has been looking to get himself another title fight, with his intention being to make a mark at 108bs as opposed to 105lbs.
