Tomorrow fight fans will be able to see Japanese legend Hozumi Hasegawa (35-5, 15) [長谷川 穂積] take on WBC Super Bantamweight champion Hugo Ruiz (36-3, 32). Today the two men took part ion their weigh in and although both made weight it was clear they weren't, naturally, the same size.
On the scales both were 122lbs, the divisional maximum, but they looked hugely different.
Hasegawa, a former WBC Bantamweight and WBC Featherweight champion, was dwarfed by Ruiz who looked like a Super Featherweight in comparison to the Japanese legend. The champion looked taller, longer, and almost like a man 3 weight classes big. Amazingly Ruiz had began his career at Bantamweight himself but has filled out to be a huge Super Bantamweight.
All smaller than the champion Hasegawa did seem confident and and we're expecting to see the former Japanese MVP put in a great performance, sadly however he'd need to trap lightning in a bottle to over-come the heavy handed and very destructive Ruiz.
Hasegawa looks for one final big win against big punching Ruiz!
