From what we understand after yesterday's painful loss in his IBF Super Bantamweight title fight Hozumi Hasegawa (33-5, 15) was taken to hospital. Whilst there he was diagnosed with several facial fractures including one under his right eye and one to his nasal bone. Although the damage was certainly painful it's not something that is life threatening so Hasegawa has been released from hospital.
We're happy to report that he injuries weren't that significant, facial damage is bad but it does heal and certainly won't cause any life changing results.
We have read some headlines that have suggested the doctors have advised Hasegawa to retire. We've got to admit we're unsure if this was merely an attention grabbing headline or was based in fact but we're hoping that, after recovering, Hasegawa does wave good bye to active fighting.
There has been no announcement so far about a retirement though we, like many others, are expecting one in the coming days.
