The Japanese fighter, who was sparring with Olympian Daisuke Narimatsu earlier this year, will be training in the Philippines before travelling to Japan to take on the former multi-time world champion.
Yamamoto will be the next in a long line of Japanese fighters to face Gonzalez, who has notable beaten the likes of Hozumi Hasegawa, Akihiko Katagiri, Kazuki Hashimoto and Hurricane Futa. He has however lost to Toshiaki Nishioka, with the "Speed King" stopping Gonzalez in Mexico.
Whilst Gonzalez is recognised as a world class fighter the same cannot be said of Yamamoto who has lost to the most notable opponents he has faced, including Juan Martin Elorde, Tsukasa Saito, Yuhei Suzuki, Satoshi Hosono and Napapol Sor Rungvisai. He will however know that this is a big opportunity to claim a win on the international stage.
