This past Friday saw hotly tipped Japanese youngster Hinata Maruta (6-1, 5) [丸田 陽七太] make his international debut, as he fought on Thai soil.
The talented fighter from the Morioka Gym needed little time to leave a mark, stopping his local foe in just 65 seconds, as he successfully bounced back from an October loss to OPBF Super Bantamweight champion Hidenori Otake [大竹 秀典].
The 20 year old was one of a number of Japanese fighters appearing on the card, all of whom took easy wins over their Thai foes, with Japan going 5-0 (5) on the card. In fact not only were all the locals stopped, but only one managed to even last a single round in a show that really served little actual purpose, other than to get the fighters some experience of fighting on foreign soil
Although Maruta has fought at a much higher level than he did here it's clearly a case of keeping him busy and he was already in Thailand for a training camp before this fight, which seems to have been a very low key conest.
