As we've known for a while Korean boxing is a mess. We love Korean boxers, and the history of boxing in Korea but it really is a mess right now.
Thankfully we have got some good news for fans who, on May 23rd, will get an interesting "world" title double header.
The most notable of the bouts will see unbeaten "Defector Girl Boxer" Hyun Mi Choi (9-0-1, 3) defending her WBA female Super Featherweight title against Japanese veteran Chika Mizutani (14-4, 7). This will be Choi's second defense of the title.
The other bout will see the rough and tumble Dan Bi Kim (10-3-2, 2)* battle against unbeaten Thai Petchngam Sor Prasobchoke (7-0, 1) for a lightly regarded WIBF title. Sadly it's not clear as to what weight this bout will be taking place at.
Due to the late notice we suspect some fans will over-look this card however Choi's back story makes her well worth following and she really does have one of the most interesting stories in all of sport.
*Several of Kim's bouts were fought under the auspices of the KBA who boxrec.com choose not to recognise. Incidentally they will also be sanctioning both of these bouts.
