Later today fight fans in the Nicaragua will get the chance to see an IBF Light Flyweight world title eliminator, as Thai visitor Fahlan Sakkreerin Jr (32-5-1, 17) [ศักดิ์กรีรินทร์] takes on heavy handed Nicaraguan Felix Alvarado (29-2, 25), with the winner to get a shot at the world title next year.
Yesterday the two fighters took part in their weight in and both men came in at the 108lb limit.
Coming in to this bout the Nicaraguan is riding an 11 fight winning run, with 10 of those wins coming by stoppage,and he's looking like a monster with 5 straight opening round wins, including wins over fighters like Luis de la Rose, Karluis Diaz and Jose Antonio Jimenez. His power has been incredible recently and he's pursuing a third world title bout, after decision losses to Kazuto Ioka and Juan Carlos Revecco.
As for Fahlan he's been been having mixed for in recent years, going 10-3-1 in his last 14. He has however been competing well at world level with a win over Ryo Miyzaki, a draw with Tatsuya Fukuhara, and competitive losses to Katsunari Takayama and Milan Melindo.
