Last night Polish fans had the chance to see unbeaten local Przemyslaw Runowski (12-0, 2) battle for the WBC Youth Intercontinental Super Lightweight title against 20 year old Filipino puncher Elmo Traya (11-2, 8). Sadly however for Traya the bout wasn't to be one of his better performances and instead coming away from Poland with the title, he suffered his second loss.
The big punching Filipino came out fast to begin the fight, proving he hadn't travelled for just the pay day. Sadly though whilst he did come out swinging he did seem unable to land cleanly on the mobile and intelligent Runowski, who avoided a tear up with heavy handed visitor.
After a few rounds the flame seemed to be taken out of Traya's fire, with the Filipino struggling to connect. With the early wave seen off Runowski started firing back more himself, turning from a counter puncher to someone trying to put Traya on the back foot, which he did at times.
Although never really hurting Traya there was little argument about the result with Runowski claiming a fair decision, though the cards of 100-90,99-91 and 99-92 were a bit harsh on the Filipino who did deserve more from the opening section of the fight.
