"El Nino", as Pagara is known, spent a round seeing what Mexican visitor Cesar Chavez (24-8, 12) has to offer. It seemed to be very little. In the second round Pagara finally let his power show and, less than 2 minutes into the second round, he saw off with a single powerful left hook.
Ranked #4 by the WBO Pagara will know that this win will give him a real chance at getting a world title bout later in the year. He likely knows he'd be the under-dog against any of the division's elite, such as Ruslan Provodnikov and Lucas Matthysse, though will feel like he deserves a big fight.
For Chavez this was an 8th stoppage loss in 32 bouts and questions need to be asked about his durability heading into any future bouts.
