As we're now beginning to get to the business end of the boxing at the 2016 Rio Olympics we've gone down to just a single, short, session. A session that featured 11 bouts in total, and was a memorable for Chinese fighters.
One of those Chinese fighters was 75KG female fighter Li Qian, who claimed a unanimous decision against Brazilian Andreia Bandeira to reach the semi-final. In the final she could, potentially, face Kazakh fighter Dariga Shakimova who reached the semi final with a decision win against Khadija Mardi, of Morocco. Next for Shakimova is American Clarissa Shields whilst Qian will face Holland's Nouchka Fontijin.
A second Chinese woman progressing is Yin Junhua, who out-pointed Mira Potkonen in the semi-final of the female 60KG weight class. In the final Junhua will face French fighter Estelle Mosselly.
Another Chinese fighter having a competition to remember is Hu Jianguan who over-came Cuban Yosvany Veitia in an upset win to reach the final 4 at 52KG's. In the semi final he will face Russian Misha Aloyan. In the other semi-final Shahobiddin Zoirov, of Uzbekistan, will face Venezualan Joel Finol. That's courtesy of a Zoirov defeating Azeri fighter Elvin Mamishzade,
In the 69KG final we saw the fantastic Daniyar Yeleussinov claim gold with a decision win against Uzbek fighter Shakhram Giyasov, confirming the Kazakh as the best fight in the division.
