Japanese hopefuls may be a regular thing but that's because there are simply so many young Japanese fighters who are showing real potential at the moment. With their so many young hopefuls from "The Land of the Rising Sun" a lot do get over-looked despite having talent, promise and real expectation.
One such fighter is Daishi Nagata (5-0-1, 3), an OPBF ranked 140lb fighter who has remained relatively under the radar despite facing respectable opponents in everyone of his professional bouts, including his debut against the equally promising Takeshi Inoue.
Today Nagata continued his unbeaten run as he scored an 8th round TKO win against Yoshiyuki Suzuki (5-9-5, 1).
On paper this was Nagata's easiest bout so far, and saw him face a fighter with a losing record for the first time, however the bout was no walk in the park for the promising 25 year old who knew he had to do more than just score a win.
From early on Nagata took charge but it wasn't until round 6 that he began to up the pace and try to get the KO. He eventually got it with less than a minute of the bout left.
Although Nagata didn't blow away Suzuki he will likely have very pleased by his performance which saw him going beyond 6 rounds for the first time in his career, and continue to move towards a title fight.
