Sadly the weigh in made us sway well in favour of the challenger who looked in sensational condition whilst the champion struggled, needing to make 3 visits to the scales to actually make the limit. The weight issues took what we felt was a 50-50 fight and made us favour Kaneko by at least a 65-35 margin, if not more.
Amazingly after the weigh in we saw our first odds for the bout and it appears that the bookmakers agree with us on Kaneko being the favourite.
The bookmakers in question are Bet365 who have priced Kaneko at 8/13 to win the bout and claim the OPBF title whilst Jomthong is 5/4 to retain his title. We'll admit that after the weigh in we'll certainly be backing Kaneko with our money.
As well as the "to win" market the bookies also offer a "Total Rounds" market setting the spread here at 9.5 rounds. The over is priced at 8/15 whilst the under is 11/8 and maybe some will find value in this market though we won't be touching it.
