One of the most notable bouts set to take place on New Year's Eve this year is the rematch between WBA Super Featherweight "super" champion Jezreel Corrales (20-1-0-1, 8) and Takashi Uchiyama (24-1-1, 20) [内山 高志], the man he beat for that title back in April.
Today, ahead of that rematch, the fighters took part in their weigh in and both men made weight at their first attempt, and looked in incredible shape whilst doing so.
On the scales Uchiyama was the heavier man coming in at just over 129.5lbs and looked like a man determined to avenge his loss. As well as being in great shape the 37 year old admitted that he had made a number of changes and sees tomorrow's bout as the beginning of a fresh start.
Corrales, who had actually failed weight on his first attempt for the first meeting with Uchiyama, came in at just over 129lbs, a start change to the man who had struggled with the scales 8 months ago. Although he was lighter when he made the weight he did look more intense than he had earlier in the week and forgot to bring a wrestling mask to the weigh in, something he had done for the first bout.
Uchiyma seeks revenge, Corrales looks to prove no fluke!
