All too often in this great sport of ours we see mismatches. Sadly it's a global issue due to the way boxing works and the importance of a good looking record as opposed to putting on the best match ups. This weekend however we get the chance to see a number of interesting looking match ups that have been really well matched.
Whilst internationally fans will be looking forward to contests such as Andre Dirrell Vs James DeGale and Bryan Vasquez Vs Javier Fortuna, there is also a bout that appeals to us in particular. That bout is the Lightweight encounter between the once beaten Uzbek Bahodir Mamadjonov (17-1, 11) and the big punching Richard Commey (21-0, 19), which takes place on Friday.
The bout may not have a world title on the line, or be between two of the sports big names but it is one of those rare match ups that looks too interesting to ignore.
Thankfully we're not the only ones looking forward to it, nor as we the only ones who think it looks too close to call. In fact almost all the main UK bookies are taking bets on the bout and they have it incredibly close to a 50-50 contest
The bookies favour the unbeaten man, who is best priced at 6/7 whilst the Uzbek is 11/10 and the draw is 20/1.
Whilst there is no “method of victory” market we can't help but feel those odds alone sum up the feeling regarding the bout which is as good a match up, in terms of competitiveness, as we are likely to see in a long time and real credit needs to go to all those involved in putting the match on.
