Earlier today it was announced that former Light Heavyweight title holder Beibut Shumenov (14-2, 9) will be making his return to the ring on December 13th as he begins his campaign as a Cruiserweight. Shumenov, who will be fighting for the first time since his "split" decision loss to Bernard Hopkins back in April, will be battling against Bobby Thomas Jr (14-2-1, 9).
The Kazakh puncher, currently ranked #3 by the WBA at Cruiserweight, has claimed that he was draining himself massively to make Light Heavyweight however we do need to admit that we wonder how he will cope up against the powerful fighters at Cruiserweight, especially given that he seemed to struggling in many ways with the strength of Bernard Hopkins last time out.
The Shumenov Vs Thomas Jr bout has been added to an already interesting Golden Boy Promotions card which will see Devon Alexander battle Amir Khan in a WBC Welterweight Silver title bout and will also see Keith Thurman defending his WBA interim Welterweight title against Leonard Bundu.
