The heavy handed Palicte, aged 25, is one of the many exciting hopefuls breaking through the ranks at 115lbs and may well be the most dangerous prospect in the division. He is perhaps best remembered for his March loss to Adrian Granados in Mexico, in a bout that saw a genuine robbery against the Pinoy puncher. Fan may also remember his 2015 bout in Macau against Ismael Garnica, which Palicte won in 7 rounds.
Whilst a long way from being a champion Palicte is world ranked and holds the IBF Pan Pacific Super Flyweight title, which he won earlier this year with a KO win over Vergilio Silvano. He may well find himself in the title mix in the next 12 months and may well be a shrewd bit of business from Jones and his team, knowing that the Super Flyweight division is beginning to get some traction in the US.
At the moment it's unclear what Palicte's first move under Jones will be, though we suspect he will be back in the ring before the year is over.
