Tomorrow fight fans at the Korakuen Hall will get a chance to see a Japanese Bantamweight title fight as Ryo Akaho (29-2-2, 19) [赤穂 亮] battles Yushi Tanaka (19-1-3, 13) [田中 裕士] for the vacant title.
Today the two men took part in their weigh in, and both made weight.
The more well known Akaho, a former 2-time world title challenger, came in dead on the limit for the bout and looked in decent, though not amazing, shape. He seems to be looking at the bout as a chance to take a step towards another world title bout and appear that Tanaka is the next step towards a third shot at world honours.
For Tanaka, who came up short whilst fighting for the same title last year, the bout is really a must win and he's come in great shape whilst weighing 117¾lbs, the same as he was in his sole loss to Kentaro Masuda. Although not rippling with muscles the weigh is lower than he has been in his last 3 fights, all of which were KO wins.
For fans wanting to watch this bout it will be featured on A-sign Boxing as part of their paid service.
