Rumours from our friends in the Philippines have suggest that a deal has been struck for Japanese wunderkind Naoya Inoue (8-0, 7) to return to action on December 29th in the first defense of his WBO Super Flyweight title. Not only has a date been set but it appears that the opponent will be Filipino slugger Warlito Parrenas (24-6-1, 21), who has, according to our sources, been chosen ahead of Mexican fighter David Carmona (19-2-5, 8), who will return to the ring in October.
At the moment the fight hasn't been officially announced however it's expected to come in Tokyo or Kanagawa with Fuji TV to air it live and for the show to resemble last year's spectacular "FES" show, which featured a trio of world title fights and also show cased the likes of Ryota Murata and Takuma Inoue. Whilst it is a shame that Inoue has been in active since December 30th last year it's great to see that he really is targeting his comeback, something we think every boxing fan has been waiting for.
Whilst we are expecting at least one other world title fight to come on this show it's unclear who would be involved in that bout, however options include Takuma Inoue, Ryo Matsumoto and veteran warrior Akira Yaegashi. Sadly however the card will; not feature Murata who is instead in action in the US in November.
We know have a strong feeling that Nayoa Inoue, Kosei Tanaka, Ryo Miyazaki, Kazuto Ioka, Ryoichi Taguchi and Takashi Uchiyama will be in action which would again see Japanese fans ending the year on a monster high, just like last year where they got an impressive 8 world title fights in the space of 2 days.
Naoya Inoue's return now penciled in for late December
