On Sunday much of the boxing world will turn their attention to Japan where Ioka will be staging a genuinely huge shown. That however isn't the only Asian card of the day and in Thailand Kiatkreerin will be staging their own, notable, show.
Ahead of that show Kiatkreerin released two new hype videos, one of which is focused on the shows main event, which will see the well managed Mike Tawatchai (35-8-1, 21) take on Filipino foe Junny Salogaol (9-7-4-1, 9) in a bout for the IBF Pan Pacific Super Bantamweight title. That video can be seen below and shows how Kiatkreerin are hyping their men and putting real promotional effort behind the fight.
The promoter, who has a great relationship with both the IBF and television channel Mono 29 makes those relationships clear in the video which pushing both the stable they have and Tawatchai in what is a good move, publicly for the company and something that other promoters should perhaps be taking a note of for the future as it's a relatively effective way of getting fans attention and to do so somewhat inexpensively.
Earlier this year we saw Thailand's criminally under-rated Fahlan Sakkreerin Jr (23-4-1, 15) come incredibly close to winning the IBF Minimumweight title, with only a poor call by the referee essentially costing him a TKO win against Katsunari Takayama (29-7-0-1, 11). Despite a strong effort from the Kiatkreerin team to force a rematch the IBF decided not to go with them and instead have allowed Takayama to fight a voluntary, albeit a tough one against countryman Ryuji Hara (19-1, 11).
The Takayama/Hara bout takes place this coming Sunday in Osaka and although the Thai won't be involved in that bout Kiatkreerin have booked Fahlan for a bout, on separate show, on the same day.
Earlier today Kiatkreerin released a hype video for Fahlan's bout, which sees him take on Oscar Raknafa (12-10, 5) in what looks like a safe "stay busy" fight for Fahlan.
We suspect that if Fahlan wins on Sunday his team will again push for a world title bout, with the winner of the Takayama/Hara contest and in all honesty we wouldn't mind seeing that one in 2016, if a unification bout in the division cannot be made.
This hype video focuses on Fahlan's bout, and the controversial ending, against Takayama and it's clear to see that Kiatkreerin are still unhappy about the result from that bout.
