Last year we saw an IBF Silk Road tournament show take place in Thailand. One of the winner on that show as former OPBF Featherweight champion Ryo Takenaka (18-3-1, 11) [竹中 良], who scored a TKO win over Filipino Lorence Rosas (9-2-2, 3) to progress to the next stage.
Today we saw Takenaka's team reveal that his next bout, his final bout, will see him go up against unbeaten foe Omurbek Malabekov (4-0, 1) in Beijing on March 28th at Super Featherweight.
Takenaka, a talented boxer-puncher from the Misako gym has scored back to back stoppage wins since losing the OPBF title to Korean fighter Sa Myung Noh in 2017. Malabekov is a Kazakhstan born Kyrgyzstani fighter who debuted in the summer of 2017 but hasn't fought in over a year. Despite being unbeaten his record, and lack of experience, do leave a lot of question marks over his potential.
We're hoping to hear about the other bouts from this show shortly.
