For a second day running Japanese fans had a main event curtailed by headclashes as, as OPBF ranked pair Takayuki Okumoto (18-7-3, 8) [奥本 貴之] and Eranio Semillano (13-7-3, 4) saw their bout called to an early halt in round 7. The result of multiple headclashes resulting in a nasty cut to Okumoto.
The bout had been a messy but exciting affair from the off, with Okumoto dropped in round 2 and Semillano being forced to see the doctor about his facial damage, around the left eye, before the bout was eventually stopped due to a real bleeder over the right eye of Okumoto.
The fight had been a rare exciting all-Southpaw battle but the head clashes had marred the contest and Okumoto couldn't hide his disappointment with the outcome of the fight, or the way the contest had gone. Notably this is the third time Okumoto has had a technical decision whilst it's the second time for Semillano, and although neither of them have been serial offenders it does seem like their styles do cause this sort of unfortunate ending a bit too often for either man to be happy about.
