Earlier today we had the chance to see a KBF Super Bantamweight title bout thanks to a free legal stream of the event.
The main event, the title bout, was the only bout on the card to not be a pure novice fighter and saw Dong Ho Geum (5-3-2, 3) [금동호] clash with Joo Hyun Kim (4-4-2, 1) [김주현] for the previously vacant KBF title.
The two spent the opening seconds trying to figure out what the other had, but it didn't take long until Geum began to find his range. When that happened he began to land with consistently, out working Kim who had moments, but regularly found himself on the back foot. Mid way through round 1 Kim was in all sorts of trouble, but shows his toughness and saw out the storm.
By the end of the first round the momentum and confidence was all with Geum, who looked the more skilled, more accurate, stronger and more powerful. Kim tried to turn it around in round 2, and showed some ambition through the round. Sadly for Kim however Geum was never in any trouble and took the play away late in the round, whilst also learning he could take the power of Kim. It was a much more competitive round than the opening one, but not one that really helped to give Kim any confidence.
Round 3 saw Geum regain total control of the bout, pressing and pressuring Kim, with clean, accurate and consistent punching. That punching was breaking down Kim who was looking like he was really struggling in round 4. The pressure from Geum wasn't always the cleanest but it was effective, and left Kim looking spent until his team threw in the towel saving their man from further punishment.
By the time the towel came in Kim was looking a broken man, whilst Geum was looking like he was getting stronger and stronger.
With the win Geum claims his biggest win, by far, and put on a genuinely impressive performance.
