It was announced earlier today that former world champions Kazuto Ioka (14-1, 9) and Ryo Miyazaki (20-1-3, 11) would be making their ring return on September 16th.
Ioka, a former WBA Light Flyweight and unified WBA/WBC Minimumweight champion, was last seen in the ring in May losing to IBF Flyweight champion Amnat Ruenroeng He will be fighting against WBA #14 ranked Flyweight Pablo Carrillo (15-2-1, 8) of Colombia. This will be Ioka's second fight at Flyweight and, if he wins, he will be looking towards another world title fight at the end of the year, possibly against the winner of the upcoming WBA fight between Juan Carlos Reveco (34-1, 18) and Yodmongkol Vor Saengthep (34-2, 20).
This bout has been arranged for 10 rounds
As for Miyazaki, the former WBA Minimumweight, he's being given an easier contest as he fights Indonesian foe Ichal Tobida (10-12, 8). Of course for Miyazaki this will be his first bout since his embarrassing stoppage loss to Fahlan Sakkreerin Jr at the very end of last year. Although Miyazaki has been out of the ring he will still be expected to make light work of Tobida who was last seen being stopped in 6 rounds by Sonny Boy Jaro in June.
From what we understand Miyazaki's bout will also be fought at Flyweight and will be scheduled for 8 rounds
This announcement has come just days after fellow Ioka Boxing fighter Sho Ishida claimed the Japanese Super Flyweight title and it appears to be a sign that Ioka Boxing are looking to end the year on a high. It's possible that if Ioka looks great here he, and Ishida, will be featured on a TBS New Years Eve card with both of them fighting for world titles.
The card will take place at the Korakuen Hall and although we're unsure on the television status of the card we're expecting TBS, or one of it's sister stations, to be carrying the show, or at least highlights from the card.
At the moment the under card for the show hasn't yet been released though tickets for the show will be made available tomorrow, August 14th and we'd expect a number of bouts to be added to the card before it happens.
This card has further added to an interesting schedule for September which already included bouts feature, Akira Yaegashi, Toshiyuki Igarashi, Naoya Inoue, Kyotaro Fujimoto, Ryosuke Iwasa and Nobuhiro Ishida.
