Earlier this month we saw Shingo Wake (20-5-2, 12) [和氣 慎吾] take a beating at the hands of Dominican puncher Jonathan Guzman (22-0-0-1, 22), in a bout for the IBF Super Bantamweight title fight . That beating saw Wake spend considerable time in hospital to have various surgeries done.
Yesterday Wake took to his own blog to keep his fans updated and revealed some good news, he had been discharged from the hospital after around a week there.
The fighter did take some pictures before his surgery revealing a body swollen and cut face though didn't revealed his face following the surgery, posting up several pictures where he was covering his face, including one with good friend Ryosuke Iwasa and another with former world champion Takashi Uchiyama.
Although it seems like all the surgery was a success Wake of course needs recovery time and the fighter himself stated that he was now going home to rest and that he wanted to thank the medical staff who had treated him through out his stay.
For fans who were inspired by his effort and became new fans there is no set time frame on when, and even if, he will return to the ring but given the damage he incurred it's unlikely we'll see him until 2017 at the earliest. Though given the level of the injuries that should be no surprise to any one.
