Earlier today it was announced that unbeaten Japanese fighter Kei Takenaka (9-0, 3) would be defending her OPBF female Light Flyweight title on September 27th, as part of the Kazuto Ioka Vs Roberto Domingo Sosa undercard.
Takenaka, who won the title back in April 2014, will be facing #2 ranked challenger Krikanok Islandmuaythai (4-4-1, 2) from Thailand.
Entering this bout Krikanok comes in on a run of 4 losses, including defeats to Nana Yoshikawa, in another OPBF title fight, and Momo Koseki, in a bout for the WBC female Atomweight title. Whilst those losses have come against capable fighters it's still very poor form.
Takenaka, who is tipped for titles in the future, has scarcely lost a round since turning professional more than 3 years. Sadly however her competition has been poor with a combined record of 6-10-1. That however shouldn't prevent her from picking up win #10 here.
This is now the third confirmed title bout for the show with the main event, a WBA Flyweight title bout, and a Japanese Super Flyweight title bout between Sho Ishida and Hayato Kimura. There is however a strong rumour that another world title bout will be announced later this week, between IBF Minimumweight champion Katsunari Takayama and Ryui Hara.
