We already knew that WBA Super Featherweight champion Takashi Uchiyama (22-0-1, 18) was wanting to fight 3 times this year though what is even better is there appears to be a target date for his bout of the year, May. The fighter was recently quoted in the Japanese press as saying May was the earliest date that he was expecting to be in the ring, though it also seems likely to be the month in which he returns for his first fight of 2015.
The heavy handed and extremely popular puncher from Tokyo didn't mention a possible opponent for his return to the ring but it does seem that he's serious about wanting a busier year in 2015. Sadly it does came after a bit of a write off in 2014 which saw him fighting just once, scoring a stoppage victory over the over-matched Israel Perez.
Although no opponent has been named we suspect it won't be WBC champion Takashi Miura (28-2-2, 21) with the "Bomber" indicating he wanted an international opponent for his first fight of 2015. Sadly for Miura it appears a possible clash with Mexico's Jhonny Gonzalez (57-8, 48) is going to be off the table with Gonzalez said to be eyeing up a fight with Jayson Velez (22-0-1, 16) and it could be that Yuriorkis Gamboa (24-1, 17) will be the best option out there for Miura.
