It feels like an eternity since we lat saw Takashi Miura (30-3-2, 23) [三浦 隆司] in the ring. We were expecting to see him face Orlando Salido (43-13-4-1, 30) later this month before an injury for Salido forced that bout to be cancelled. Although Golden Boy Promotions tried to get Miura an alternative opponent for the date the end result was that Miura's December bout was scrapped due to Salido's injury.
Thankfully today brought us some good Miura news with the "Left Bomber" having his next bout announced, at last.
The announcement stated that Miura, the exciting southpaw slugger from the Teiken ring, would be back in action on January 28th in Indio California to face off against Mexican veteran Miguel Roman (56-11, 43), a man who Miura was actually ordered to face earlier this year.
The winner will be moved into position to fight for the WBC Super Featherweight later in the year, facing the winner of the show's main event. that main event will see current WBC champion Francisco Vargas (23-0-2, 17) face off with fellow slugger Miguel Berchelt (30-1, 27), garaunteeing us fight fans several exciting bouts in the stacked 130lb weight class.
At the moment under-card details aren't too clear but there is some murmurs of another Teiken fighter also being on the card along with Miura, and it's almost certain that both Ryota Murata and WBC Bantamweight champion Shinsuke Yamanaka will travel over with Miura, with Yamanaka still looking to make his US debut.
