We've known for a while that highly touted Japanese prospect Sho Nakazawa (5-0, 4) would be in action on April 16th on the under-card of Shinsuke Yamanaka's world title defence against the unbeaten Diego Ricardo Santillan.
Today we finally got the name of Nakazawa's opponent for that show, Mexican fighter Alexander Cazares (9-3, 3), a man who was beaten last time out in a WBC FECARBOX Bantamweight title bout.
For those who aren't aware Nakazawa is very highly regarded as a prospect with the nickname "Sho of Naniwa", a play on the nickname of Joichiro Tatsuyoshi who was known as "Joe of Naniwa" and is a fighter that is tipped to go all the way to a world title. This however is just the next step.
On paper this is a step up for Nakawzawa, though he did look impressive last time out when he clearly out pointed Jhunriel Ramonal. This upcoming is merely another small step up in class and we suspect he'll be stepped up again in the summer before hunting some for of title at the end of the year.
