It's been a busy day for WBA Flyweight champion Kazuto Ioka (17-1, 10) who has taken part in a couple of notable events.
One of those events was the official naming ceremony of the newly baptised "EDION Arena Osaka", the new name of the Osaka Prefectural Gymnasium.
The other was a public training session at the Ioka gym.
The training session was supposed to feature a spar though that was cancelled after Ioka complained of a niggling injury with his thigh. Instead of the spar the 3-weight world champion spent his time shadow boxing and working up a sweat whilst trying not to aggravate the injury, which is said to be more of a "discomfort" than a real issue.
From what understand Ioka will take a day or two to rest and has put the issue down to over-training and exhaustion. The problem is only a mild one, and he stressed that it was mild, though it's one that he will want to put behind him before his upcoming fight, on September 27th with Roberto Domingo Sosa (26-2-1, 14). Given that that fight is less than 4 weeks away it's fair to say that any issue has got to be given time.
