Earlier today we were informed that two top Ioka gym fighters will be expected back in the ring in Spring in what could be a world title double header, following wins for both men yesterday.
Those fighters are former 2-weight world champion Kazuto Ioka (16-1, 10) and former Minimumweight champion Ryo Miyazaki (22-1-3, 13).
From what we understand the plan for Ioka is to fight WBA Flyweight champion Juan Carlos Reveco (35-1, 19) as he attempts to become a 3-weight world champion, and claim a Flyweight title at the second time of asking, having previously come up short against Amnat Ruenroeng. Our source has said a deal is all but set with only a date left to agree on.
The plan for Miyazaki isn't as clear but there are several very interesting bouts out there for him at the world level. For example a bout with the newly crowned WBA champion Ryoichi Taguchi (21-2-1, 8) in an all Japanese clash or a fight with the talented Pedro Guevara (24-1-1, 16), the newly crowned WBC champion. If we got our way however we'd love to see Miyazaki battle against IBF champion Javier Mendoza (22-2-1, 18) in what would be a potential FOTY candidate.
