Former WBC Minimumweight champion Xiong Zhao Zhong (22-5-1 12) will return to the ring on May 16th for his first fight since losing his world title.
Zhong, China's first ever male world champion, was beaten last time out when Oswaldo Novoa stopped him in 5 rounds back in February. Following that loss some did question whether Zhong would retire though it's good to see him returning to thing ring here.
Following the shock loss to Novoa we suspected that Zhong would be facing a lesser foe and that's been proven with his next opponent being named as Filipino Rolio Golez (15-11-1, 6). Golez has won just 1 of his last 5 and shouldn't be any sort of competition for Zhong who will be expected to pick up an easy victory, though may need to go the scheduled 10 rounds to record it as Golez is rather tough.
This bout is on the same card as the bout between Qiu Xiao Jun and Rasmanudin.
