We had known for a whilst that OPBF Super Bantamweight champion Shingo Wake (16-4-2, 9) would be defending his belt on July 21. We later found out that Wake wouldn't just be defending the title but would be doing saw against the highly ranked Korean Jaesung Lee (17-3-2, 9).
Earlier today we found out that the Wake/Lee fight wasn't going to be the only title fight on the show as reports came out stating that Ryotaro Kawabata (10-2, 4) will be on the card fighting for the WBC Youth Super Flyweight title.
From what we understand Kawabata will be fighting Rene Dacquel (11-3, 3), though we have also heard that Kawabata would be facing former Wake opponent Jovylito Aligarbes (10-3, 4), the former holder of the title.
We expect more details of this card, and confirmation regarding who Kawabata will be fighting, to be released in the coming weeks though it's great to see that the promotional team behind the show aretrying to put on a decent co-feature.
Regarding the team behind the show we also need to applaud them for the show's new poster which we love even if it does suggest the show is all about Wake. We suspect that if Wake wins, as expected, he and his team will be pushing for a world title fight for later this year or very early next year.
