Wake is a man who has a point to prove and a lot to lose. At the moment he is ranked by all 4 world title bodies and holds an excellent #5 position with the WBC. A loss will set him back and totally destroy the career momentum has has at the moment after 6 straight wins.
In Lee however Wake does have a good challenger. Lee is the Korean champion, he's the former IBF Pan Pacific Super Bantamweight champion and has faced one or two recognisable names such as current world champion Mikey Garcia. He is also unbeaten in Japan with a 3-0 in Japan, including an opening round blow out of Akihiro Matsumoto.
This bout, scheduled for 21st July at the Budokan in Okayama City, is likely to be Wake's final OPBF title bout before he tries to tie down a world title fight. He's in an uncomfortably tough division with the likes of Guillermo Rigondeaux, Leo Santa Cruz, Kiko Martinez, Scott Quigg, Hozumi Hasegawa and Carl Frampton but would certainly deserve to share the ring with any of the top fighters in the division.
