Earlier today Filipoino slugger Warlito Parrenas (24-6-1, 21) took part in a media training session ahead of his fight against WBO Super Flyweight champion Naoya Inoue (8-0, 7). The session, which took place at the Ohashi Gym, saw a confident looking Parrenas talking to the media at a press conference and taking part in a light work out, hitting the mitts with former fighter Hero Bando, who was working for the UNITED Gym.
Parrenas, who was once known in Japan as WARS Katsumata, seemed relaxed in Japan where he was once based with the Katsumata gym. He also stated that he had been preparing for Inoue since November and was now 100% prepared for the Monster having been practising hard.
The heavy handed and exciting Filipino promised to entertain fans and said that he was expecting the bout to end in a KO. He also spoke about his last loss, a stoppage to Oscar Blanquet, stating that it was a lucky punch.
Although clearly the under-dog it does seem like Parrenas is confident and will come to fight, possibly leading to a thrilling contest when he meets Inoue in less than a weeks time!
