Earlier today sources informed us that a deal between Shingo Wake (20-4-2, 12) [和氣 慎吾] and Jonathan Guzman (21-0-0-1, 21) was moving towards a conclusion. From what we understand the bout, which will be for the IBF Super Bantamweight title is looking likely to head to Japan, and is likely to take place in the summer.
The source hasn't yet confirmed information regarding where in Japan but it seems likely that it will be aired on TBS with either Tokyo or Osaka being the most probably venues.
One source has suggested that the card may feature two world title bouts, though hasn't speculated on the other bout. Notably however TBS have worked alongside WBA "Flyweight" champion Kazuto Ioka (19-1, 11) [井岡一翔] who is also expected to be returning to action in July, and it may be that he will be in the other title fight, with Ioka's TV figures falling in recent fights.
Another source has informed up that Wake's manager, Keiichiro Kanehira, is very confident of getting the bout made, signed and sealed in the next few weeks and is very confident that Guzman's much touted power won't be the difference between the Dominican and Wake.
