This past weekend fight fans world wide saw Indonesian sensation Iwan Zoda (9-1, 8) claim the IBF Youth Flyweight title, with a 3rd round TKO win against Szilveszter Kanalas (8-1, 6). Since that win we have been given a little bit of a news update in regards to Zoda's future.
The news, sent to us by Zoda's international manager Mikko Marttinen, is that Zoda's next bout will be a non-title affair either at the end of April or in May, with the possibility of another bout in June, keeping the teenager active.
The next big fight for Zoda is being pencilled in for August and will likely to place in Jakarta with the exciting youngster likely to defend his IBF Youth title, before progressing him towards a potential world title fight by this time next year.
Not only was Zoda successful in the ring but he was also successful on TV with iNews said to have been very happy with the viewing figures for the show and likely to cover his future fights, giving him a huge platform to build on. It's also worth noting that the venue for the fight also saw high ticket sales with the bout doing better figures than a Daud Yordan fight from late 2014. Those last few things suggest that Zoda's popularity at home is starting to take off and if he continues to build on that popularity we may well see Indonesian boxing kick starting behind him, and his exciting style.
As always we'd like to send a huge thanks to Mikko for his update on Zoda's career.
