On Wednesday fans will get the chance to see an excellent match up at Super Featherweight as unbeaten WBA "super" champion Takashi Uchiyama (22-0-1, 18) defends his title against sensational Thai Jomthong Chuwatana (9-0, 4). Earlier today, ahead of that fight, the fighters under-went their physicals which showed just how similar the fighters are.
The physical measurements taken of the men showed Uchiyama, a big Super Featherweight, was actually 1cm shorter than the Thai challenger with the heights being listed now at 172cm vs 173cm. Similarly the reaches of the two men are very similar with Uchiyama having the slight edge there with a 182cm reach as opposed to Jomthong's 181cm reach.
The neck measurement for both was also similar with Uchiyama having the thicker neck, with a measurement of 38.5cm, and Jomthong having a thinner neck by 1.5cm, with his being listed at 37cm.
Physically where the men did differ was in the chest region with Uchiyama, who has a huge chest, being measured at at 102cm whilst Jomthong's was 91cm. That really was the only major distance between the two.
Whilst the physical measurements won't decide the fight it does seem that we weren't the only surprised by how similar the two are with Jomthong saying he thought Uchiyama would be bigger than he was.
