Back in May we reported that the esteemed "Ring Magazine" had recognised the achievements of WBC Bantamweight champion Shinsuke Yamanaka (23-0-2, 17), and had placed him in their highly acclaimed "Pound-for-Pound" list. Today we are glad to report that Yamanka is no longer alone in that list as he has recently been joined by WBA "super" Super Featherweight champion Takashi Uchiyama (23-0-1, 19).
From what we understand this is the first time in history that the Magazine has recognised two Japanese fighters in their top time, and they are, from what we understand only the second and third fighters to be given the honour and recognition.
The two unbeaten champions have long been recognised as the best in their division and now to be recognised, finally, as being two of the best fighters on the planet is great news for the Japanese fight scene which may, finally, get some real attention from fans stateside.
