There are some bouts that are mouth watering and, from the moment they are first rumoured, they appear likely to be FOTY contenders due to the styles of the two fighters. One such bout, that has been rumoured for months, is a WBC Super Featherweight title bout between the heavy handed champion Takashi Miura (29-2-2, 22) and unbeaten contender Francisco Vargas (22-0-1, 16).
With the rumours having gone on and on, with some saying the bout just needed "t's" crossing and "i's" dotting we had no doubt that the bout was going to happen, it was just a case of when were the teams going to come out and announce it.
That announcement came earlier today when Teiken officially announced the potential war. Not only did they announce it, but they also confirmed every rumour that we had been hearing in regards to the bout.
For months the runour was that the bout was set for the upcoming November 11th card in Las Vegas, a card headline by a WBC Middleweight title bout between Miguel Cotto and Saul Canelo. From what we under-stand the bout will be aired live in the US and co act as the shows co-feature.
At the press conference Teiken representatives seemed very proud of their fighter and his recent competition, which has seen Miura face numerous #1 contenders and a former champion. Like wise Miura himself seemed very confident with the promising of winning by KO, something he has made a knack of recently with 6 of his last 7 ending early.
For fight fans who like "real fights" this really could be the highlight of the year and American fans really should be licking their lips in regards to the violence we're expecting when Miura takes on Vargas.
