Earlier today we stumbled on the betting odds for Sod Kokietgym's (63-2-1, 28) world title challenge against Cuban sensation Guillermo Rigondeaux (13-0, 8).
Rigondeaux, the defending WBO and WBA "super" champion Super Bantamweight has been priced as an impossible to back 1/100. Yes you read that right, Rigondeaux is 1/100 and for every £100 you stake on him you will win a mere £1. To say the bookies are giving Sod no chance is an under-statement and a half.
For those who are happy to go against the grain you can bet on Sod at around 18/1 though we'd suggest holding off in the hope that a betting exchange will have a market on the fight.
Whilst we know Rigondeaux has to be the favourite we do tend to think odds like this are a bit ridiculous, then again so to is the fight on July 19th in Macau. With the skills Rigondeaux has he really should be fighting a much better opponent that Sod and we'd have loved to have seen Rigondeaux fight someone like Shingo Wake, himself a tricky and fast southpaw, or Genesis Servania, a fighter who seems intent on rising to the top sooner rather than later.
As it is Sod we'd like to wish the Thai the best of luck but we don't seem him having more than a freak chance, something the bookies don't even give him at the moment.
