Earlier today we were informed that former Japanese Light Welterweight champion Shinya Iwabuchi (25-5, 21) would be returning to the ring on September 5th in a bout with Filipino foe Romeo Jakosalem (16-10-1, 8), himself a former OPBF and GAB champion at 140lbs.
The bout, which hasn't been formerly announced, was revealed by Iwabuchi on his own blog, and although it's not yet been confirmed suspicion is that it will be at the Korakuen Hall as part o Dangan 138,continuing Iwabuchi's great relationship with reason promotions. If that's right then the bout will be one of a number of interesting bouts on a card that will also feature Rikiya Fukuhara.
For Iwabuchi the bout will be his 3rd of the year as he continues to rebuild following a KO loss, last year, to Keita Obara in an OPBF title fight. That was Iwabuchi's first stoppage loss though clearly hasn't been the end of his career.
For Jakosalem, who held OPBF title for 5 months before losing it in 2012 to Min Wook Kim, this will also be his 3rd bout of the year as he looks to rebuild what is certainly a faltering career.
