Shinsuke Yamanaka takes part in public training session ahead of bout with Anselmo Moreno
On September 22nd boxing fans around the world will get the chance to see WBC Bantamweight kingpin Shinsuke Yamanaka (23-0-2, 17) battle against former WBA champion Anselmo Moreno (35-3-1, 12).
Today, ahead of that bout, fans in Tokyo had the chance to see a public training session from Yamanaka who sounded confident and look sharp at the Teiken gym.
The session saw him partake in 2 rounds of sparring, hitting a heavy bag and going through a routine on the mitts as he spent around an hour working out. The session, a relatively intensive one for a public training session so close to a big fight, seemed to show that he was in great condition.
As well as the public training the fighter also spoke to the media, saying he was in the best shape of his career and that he had sparred more than 150 rounds in preparation for his upcoming bout. Those rounds had included numerous sessions with WBO #1 ranked contender Marlon Tapales (27-2, 10), who is himself a southpaw like Moreno. It was, for those interested, Tapales who was sparring again with Yamanaka earlier today.
It seems, that after some lackluster opponents, Yamanaka is really taking this bout seriously and we could well be about to see Yamanaka at his very best against possibly hi toughest opponent to date.
