On Thursday Kyoei held a press conference, one day after their recent show which featured 3 notable Japanese fighters.
One of those fighters was female star Tomomi Takano (8-1, 5) who was proudly showing off her new OPBF title. Takano stated that her next target was a world title and that although she claimed the OPBF female Super Bantamweight title yesterday her focus was probably going to be on heading back down to Super Flyweight.
Another of the fighters was the swollen Hisashi Amagasa (29-5-2, 19) who looked badly swollen around the right side of his face. The popular and rangy fighter was fighting for the first time since his loss to Guillermo Rigondeaux last year and it does look like swelling will become permanent issue going forward with his career. Amagasa stated that he was wanting to fight in another world title fight and was targeting Welshman Lee Selby.
The other fighter was Super Bantamweight hopeful Shingo Wake (19-4-2, 11) who is now the mandatory challenger for the IBF Super Bantamweight title. Although Wake looks to have come out of the bout unscathed he did say that the bout had left him in some pain. Despite the pain he seemed happy at the result of his bout and it seems talks will begin between his team and that of Carl Frampton in September to try and get the bout made by the end of 2015.
