Over the past few days we've seen various members of the WBA family meeting with various Asian boxing figures. Interestingly we've been told that at one those meetings Sebastian Acaries, one of the key figures behind WBA "interim" Middleweight champion Hassan N'Dam N'Jikam (35-2, 21), indicated he wanted to discuss the possiblity of his charge facing Japanese Middleweight Ryota Murata (12-0, 9) [村田 諒太].
It seems likely that the bout would have to wait until the middle of March to be fully agreed, with the need for the WBA to wait until after the Gennady Golovkin Vs Danny Jacobs bout to free up the "regular" title, but it would look like a real possiblity for later in the year, potentially in summer.
It was long believed that Murata would be facing off with WBO champion Billy Joe Saunders (24-0, 12) but with Saunders now rumoured to be close to signing up for a different bout it would seem like Murata Vs N'Dam N'Jikam would make sense and give both fighters a genuinely interesting match up with a potentially solid pay day for both.
At the moment it does just seem to be murmurs from those in Japan but it is an exciting murmur all the same and could be announced in mid-March if the teams can get a deal sorted, which does seem likely given that Mr Acaries is said to have personally gone to Japan with the intention of discussing the bout with Teiken head honcho Akihiko Honda.
