Over the last few weeks we've been following the betting market on the upcoming WBC Flyweight title bout between defending champion Akira Yaegashi (20-3, 10) and unbeaten Nicaraguan challenger Roman Gonzalez (39-0, 33). From the start Gonzalez has been the favourite, starting at 4/6 before being cut to 1/3. Today, as we near fight, Gonzalez has remained the favourite.
At the moment a number of British bookies are taking bets on the bout and although all of them have similar odds, favouring Gonzalez, there is some difference between what you can get. The worse prices are around 1/4 on Gonalez whilst you can still get 1/3 if you look around.
If you're confident in Yaegashi defeating the much touted Gonzalez then you may feel very pleased by the fact the bookies have the Japanese fighter priced at between 5/2 and 11/4. A good return if he wins.
As for the draw every bookie running the fight currently has it at 22/1. We may seem crazy but that actually looks attractive.
Sadly none of the bookies are currently taking bets on method of victory or rounds, though it's still nice to see them carrying this bout at all given it's relatively small profile in the UK.
