This past Wednesday Japanese fans at the Korakuen Hall had the chance to see former Japanese Super Featherweight champion Rikki Naito (14-1, 5) [内藤 律樹], who was fighting for the first time since he lost the Japanese title to Kenichi Ogawa last December.
Naito was up against highly experienced Thai Chaiyong Sithsaithong (40-16-4, 28) [ชัยยงค์ ศิษย์ทรายทอง] and looked like a fighter who had learned a lesson from his loss, as he easily out boxed, out fought and out moved the Thai.
From the opening round it was clear that Naito was too good, too big and too fast as he out boxed the Thai veteran who struggled with the jab and movement of the Japanese fighter. Chaiyong tried to slowdown Naito with a body attack, and whilst there was some success for the Thai Naito fought back and never seemed in any trouble.
At the end of the 8 round bout their was no doubting the winner with Naito recording an 80-72 shut out.
