The Osaka Prefectural Gymnasium is widely viewed as the major Osaka venue for boxing. It has acted as a home to a number of Osaka based fighters, such as Kazuto Ioka, and is as close to a "Korakuen Hall" type venue as Osaka gets.
Today it was announced that venue has a new sponsor and a name change.
As of September 1st the venue will be known as the "EDION Arena Osaka" after a deal was reached with company to sponsor the arena for 3 years.
This deal follows a similar deal that was held by "BB Sports", who named the venue the "Bodymaker Colosseum" whilst their deal was on-going. That deal however wasn't renewed when it came to an end earlier this year.
At the moment we're unsure what will be the first boxing event held in the newly named venue though it is great to know that the legendary venue will continue to host boxing in the near future.
